Graffiti on One Hundred Poems by One Hundred Poets
Spring in Arao
The scenery around me changes with the seasons. I found these changes reflected in the textiles and patterns I found at the second hand shops. The old discarded things change shape. And a new purpose is born.
-- Gaby Taplick
Gaby Taplick made her way to motomoto in February of 2020. In the early stages of our residency, Taplick is a key artist who left her impression on the founding year of the motomoto and on the residency itself.
Taplick's residency began with finding the sources for the broad array of works she produced during her three month stay. This search brought her to various locations throughout the Arao area, from bay areas to local second hand shops. The artist was inspired by the patterns that came out of the old, forgotten things, and she hoped to give them a new life in the gallery.
Taplick conducted all of her research in the first half of the residency, then kept working through to her opening in May. Though the showings of her works were limited during the 2020 season, they are available now online and some works remain on-site as permanent installations. Weather permitting, you are welcome to enjoy the works on permanent display on our rooftop while enjoying a cup of tea.
