Inoue Shuji Solo Exhibition
VS
Exhibition period:
Dec 13,14,20,21,27,28 2025
I will be holding a self-organized solo exhibition titled “VS” in Sanmu City, Chiba Prefecture.
Sanmu is home to Negi, a shared studio where I spend time working with my collaborators.
With the support of the local community, we are taking on a large-scale outdoor exhibition that makes use of vacant land.
At the venue, I will present a reconstructed installation of “Extended the Steps of Mt.Hiyoriyama to a New Point of View” (2021), a work based on Hiyoriyama in my hometown of Ishinomaki, Miyagi—where many people fled to escape the tsunami during the Great East Japan Earthquake.
In addition, I plan to exhibit a new installation using a 7-meter piece of driftwood collected from the coast of Ishinomaki and 30 tons of concrete.
In this place where the site of production and daily life blend together, I hope visitors will feel not only the works themselves but also the connection with the land.
Major exhibitions: "Sammu City 100 Years Later Art Festival" (Chiba), "ATAMI ART GRANT 2024" (Atami Art Village, Shizuoka), "Koganecho Bazaar 2024" (Takahashi Building, Kanagawa), "Manda Mine Art Festival" (Manda Mine World Heritage Site, Kumamoto). Major solo exhibitions: "A Spiral Can Also Look Like a Circle" (AIR motomoto, Kumamoto) in 2023.
