Rika Watanabe (b. 1987, Aichi, Japan)
Graduated with an MFA from the Glasgow School of Art, Scotland, UK, in 2014

Working across video, sculpture, performance, and participatory forms, she explores the boundary between belonging and non-belonging. In recent years, she has come to sense that such boundaries are not simply divisions, but cross-sections where one thing comes into close contact with another. Through her practice, she seeks to draw nearer to these cross-sections. Selected exhibitions include Art Fair Beppu 2025 (Beacon Plaza, Oita, Japan, 2025) and Gwenan International (Glasgow Project Room, Scotland, UK, 2025).
